I hope that by now most of you are more comfortable with the idea of menu planning. When I first began to plan our menus it felt strange, but the more I did it, the more natural it felt. There are still weeks where I fail to plan a menu for our family, and those are usually the weeks that we eat out more or end up spending more at the grocery store for last minute purchases.
Remember to take things slow and keep at it. Menu planning will slowly become the new normal and will quickly show itself worth the invested time and effort. And, as you plan your menus from what you already have at home and what is on sale during the week, you should see a difference in your grocery bill…in the right direction!
5 Simple Steps to Planning Your Menu
1 – Decide the length of your menu: 1 week, 2 weeks, or 4 weeks.
2 – See what food you already have on hand that you can incorporate into your meals.
3 – Shop your local grocery stores for items that are on sale to keep your grocery bill low.
4 – Base your recipes with your items at home and the sales items.
5 – Write a list of what you plan to purchase and any items you need that may not be on sale.
